Urho Kaleva Kekkonen was born in Pielavesi September 3rd in the year that started the 20th century, and four years after his resignation as the current president of the republic of Finland he died at his home in Tamminiemi on August 31st, 1986 three days before his 86th birthday, of what seemed to have been a hereditary disease called atherosclerosis, which may also have affected his mental and physical health even during his time as the 8th President of Finland.

Coming from a family of poor farmers, Kekkonen started his working career as a journalist for the newspaper Kajaanin Lehti as a productive writer, and later on moved onto politics, starting his political career as a representative of the Agrarian League in 1936, making it all the way to President.Preceded by Juho K. Paasikivi, former President in office; the current President in office U. K. Kekkonen was left with high expectations, which included the continuity of the neutrality policy laid down by President Paasikivi and also improving the still-sour war-wrecked relations of Finland and Russia. Kekkonen did a great job as President in office, one might even say that he was the greatest of all Presidents up-to-date, seeing as how he had been re-elected three times in a row, although his fourth semester was cut short because of his increasingly bad state of health, making his time in office from March 1, 1956 to January 27, 1982; a total of nearly 26 years. And then finally after 26 years in office Kekkonen was succeeded by Mauno Koivisto.
